Each CaddyTips is individually tailored to the golfers selected course and includes several General Tips for the course. These Tips will help a golfer prepare better prior to their round. General Tips to play Doral Blue Monster

Almost every green on Doral Blue Monster will require you to carry the ball to putting surface. This is caused either by the greens being elevated or heavily guarded short. The main function on the Doral Blue Monster is to bring the wind into play. Don't fight the wind, if the wind is into you take extra club and swing smooth. Because a punch shot is not very useful (due to having to carry the ball) you must club or down and work with the wind. A lofted pitch and chip shot will be very valuable here. A sand or lob wedge will be the perfect tool to combat the fast elevated greens and the thick Bermuda rough. Doral Blue Monster has Bermuda greens and the grain will affect your putts. The grain will follow the sun (wherever the sun is, that direction will be down grain). Trust that it is there and read it into your putts.

Here is a snippet from the Caddytips from Doral - Blue Monster:

Hole 10
Sharp dogleg left around lake – par 5 – 551/528/507 yds.

Tee shot: A safe tee shot here will be played to land short of the fairway bunker on the right half of the fairway. The bunker sits 270 yds. from the back tees (250 blue/230 white). Because of several small groves of palm trees along the lake this is a very difficult green to reach in two. Long hitters should take a 3 wood off the tee and make it an easy three shot hole.

Second shot: The safe lay up will be aimed down the right side of the fairway and played to end 140-125 yds. from the green. This will keep you short of the fairway bunkers. An aggressive lay up will be played to carry past the bunkers, landing within 60 yds. of the green and again this shot should favor the right.

Approach shot: This shot will play level to a slightly elevated green. The hole is protected by water on the left and bunkers short right. Beware of a pin cut on the left in this situation it is best to shoot to the center of the green. The green is 36 paces deep.

Green: Slopes from back to front and crowns in the middle with the left side falling left and the right side falling right.
